So I took the plunge and just did it. I had no idea what would come out or how I was gonna.make this work.
I wanted the collapsible section and that's what I got. I cut off 3" to get behind the roll pin on the steering lock and added 12" of 3/4 round stock. I had 3' of double D shaft but I liked this solution more. It was easier to use the flat section of the DD shaft as a guide.
This is the same way I did drive shafts back in the day. (Drive shafts I used the TIG.)
