727 Transmission Information

I'm putting my brother-in-laws project car, 76 Duster, back together and I have two transmissions to chose from. A '79 360 with 727 that came from a car, but I know nothing else about and a '73 727 that came out of a small RV with 22k miles.

Anyone know what the stall speed might be on the RV torque convertor?

Also - Would an RV-Truck transmission have heavier duty bands or clutches than a 727 car trans?

Any help from you Mopar guys would be greatly appreciated. I might even keep the car...

Borgenson conversion big block

Just started taking out the manual box on my 69' Dart GT today. It's a 383 and I thought that taking off the drivers side header was gonna be necessary, but jacking up the engine was the hit ticket.

The manual box came right out and the new Borgenson box dropped in. Lowered the engine and found that tube #3 hits the box and I'm bit confused as TTI says the 1 3/4 headers clear power steering. Now it might also be the QA1 k frame, so I have a couple of options. Heat the tube and use a...

I'm considering purchasing a VFN one piece front clip for my 67 Barracuda. Does anyone have one or have experience with one? Are they of good quality and does anyone know if it can be used with the factory inner fender wells? Also, if anybody has pictures that would be awesome. Thanks...

Who makes Marquette welders?

Im going to pick up a Marquette 12150 plasma cutter (3015 Plasma Cutting System..) Its a big old 35A model but I know jack about the brand. Seems like its an OEM for names like Snap-on, Miller, Century...? Its non-functional but has a new torch, dirt cheap! I hope its something with the controller board that I can repair. It may be made in Italy from other models (12151) in the line which I think is worth about $2 more than Chinese....but $$$ more in consumables.

Magnum swap accessories question

An apology if this has been addressed elsewhere.

I am swapping a ’99 5.2L (from a Ram 1500) into a ’73 duster and will be keeping the serpentine accessory belt system. I have the brackets for alternator and power steering pump (I will use the A/C bypass) which I got through a local salvage yard (also from a truck).

I’m still rather new to this so my question is this. As my Duster already has P/S will I be able to use my existing P/S pump from the Duster with a serpentine style pulley, or...

Mini Starters on a Slant Six

Ok, have been reading and finally needed a new starter. 1974 Scamp with built 225 and running Clifford headers. Got a starter at O'Reily Auto Parts for a 1991 Dodge D150 with 318. Reason being the older "mini" starter wiring lugs are EXACTLY the same, newer models have a clip for trigger wire. Hardest part of the job was getting the OEM starter out around the headers. Results, perfect!! Spins like crazy compared to the old starter. This is a simple and...

Lower Control Arms

LCA strut rod bushing.

Just trying to install control arms on my 69 barracuda, I'm using strut bushing poly bushings PN 4-1202 from summit.
They are the 2 piece with a sleeve. Unfortunately the sleeve is the same size as the step in the strut, the bushing can just push back over the step. I think something is wrong here.
the pics tell the story. Do I have the wrong bushing kit. Summit site says good for 69 barracuda. Or do I have oddball strut rods.

New Distributor needed, any Suggestions?

Hi,

i´m in the market for a new Distributor (SB LA), my old one has got a lot of play in the upper bearing and makes adjustment of the reluctor gap impossible. What do you run? I´d like to have a good quality part that´s reliable, and i´d like to have a simple mechanism to adjust the mechanical advance (like the mallory style in the newer MP-distributors, no discs, no bushings etc.). Magnetic Pickup is ok for triggering the box. Any suggestions?

Michael

Despite all superficial bullshit that people like to spew. If you have ONE ture friend, cherish it. Last night I never felt so good knowing I did not let money, greed or the ego come between my true self and my good friend. For what its worth... I hope some reads this and feels the same way about another person. It comes back to you.

Woodie.
